STUDIO POLICY FOR PRIVATE MUSIC LESSSONS
Dear parents and students,
Welcome to the Jacksonville School of the Arts! Thank you for becoming a part of our school. We would like to express our desire to consistently provide each student with the best musical education possible. We will always make our studio a place of education and professionalism. Here are a few studio policies to make sure everyone experiences success. Please read each section carefully and initial on the line.
General Information
Students will meet weekly with the teacher. Lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, depending on the student’s age/level. Students are expected to arrive for lessons in a timely manner, with all required materials and music. To discuss student progress, parents are welcome to talk with the teacher during the first five minutes of the student's lesson -- but not afterwards, in order to respect the next student's time slot. _____
If you are late for you lesson, your instructor will end the lesson at the regularly scheduled time in order to start his/her next lesson on time. ______
Tuition and Payment
Tuition prices are as follows: 30 minutes $130/month
45 minute $195/month
60 minute $260/ month
Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month.
Tuition will be prorated if a student initially joins in the middle of the month. Late payments will incur a late fee of $1 for each day late. _____
Tuition will remain the same for the months in which a student receives 5 lessons. The fifth lesson is a built in make up for months in which the student may only receive 3 lessons due to a holiday. ______
Tuition is paid on line, in cash or checks payable to your teacher. _____
Missed Lessons
Due to your teacher’s limited availability and studio space missed lessons will not be rescheduled, or refunded/credited to another month. _____
Dismissal/Discontinuing
Every student stops taking lesson at some point. Ideally, this decision is made thoughtfully with plenty of discussion between the teacher, parent, and student so that lessons can cease with a positive sense of closure. For this reason, either a 30 day notice must be given or the equivalent payment must be made. Note: At the discretion of the teacher, students may be asked to discontinue lessons at any time if they have unpaid tuition, an excess number of unprepared lessons, or if they show a lack of interest. _____
If you wish to reserve your space in your teachers schedule, you will be required to pay at full months tuition price for each month in order to reserve your time slot. ______
Parental Participation
Parents need to provide an instrument as well as a distraction-free time and place for the student’s daily practice. Parents are encouraged to be supportive and active participants in practice at home. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend lessons at any time so they can better help their child at home. Please feel free to ask your child’s teacher what you can specifically do to become more involved in your child’s practice. _____
Communication
The best way to contact the teacher is via email or text, which will be returned within 24 hours. Please be courteous and observe regular business hours when contacting your teacher, by keeping phone calls and text messages between 8am-8pm during the weekdays. Emails are welcome at anytime. _____
If you have any questions or concerns you may be directed to Virginia Dill, Director of JSOTA at 757-717-7187 or [email protected]
